Did you recently receive the results from a tap water test? Looking through all of the different types of contaminants and contamination levels can be a lot of information to digest, and your next course of action will depend on what kind of test was performed and what showed up in your results. Today we’re going to help you through this process by talking about what to do with water test results from both your city and your home!
What to do with water test results from your city
Every year, your city is required to send you a Water Quality Report that shows the results of water tests that were performed on each of its water supplies throughout the year. For example, you can view Concord’s 2015 Water Quality Report here. These reports show what kinds of contaminants were found in public water supplies throughout the year and at what levels those contaminants showed up.
After receiving your city’s test results, you should do some research on the types of contaminants that showed up, especially those that were at elevated levels. This blog is a good resource to read up on different contaminants, and you can also check out the EPA’s list of water contaminants and their respective health effects.
It’s important to note that the city’s results are representative of what might be in your home’s water, but the results are not definitive. Your tap water might have different types of contaminants, and it might also have different contamination levels than those that showed up in your city’s report. That’s why the best thing you can do after receiving your city’s test results is to have your water tested by McBride’s. We can send samples of your home’s specific water to a New Hampshire-certified laboratory and provide you with much more accurate results. Feel free to mention any types of contaminants that you’re concerned about from your city’s test results prior to your test. We’ll be sure to talk over those contaminants with you when your test results come back.
What to do with water test results from your home
When you get test results back from one of McBride’s testing services, you’ll have a very clear picture of what types of quality issues your water faces. So what’s the next step? That depends on your results.
The best part about receiving test results from McBride’s is that you don’t have to analyze them on your own. We’ll walk you through your results and point out any specific problem areas that we think you should be concerned about.
After explaining your results, we’ll talk about the various treatment systems that we offer that can address your home’s specific quality issues. We have a wide-range of products that can take care of any of the problems that showed up in your results.
If you need some more time to think about your results, that’s perfectly fine. Again, it’s a good idea to research the contaminants that showed up at elevated levels so that you can understand how they might affect your home or the health of you and your family. If you decide that you want to remove those contaminants, give us a call and we’ll talk you through your options.
